southern touches

just some photos that inspired me when I decorated my house

they still inspire me to make my home more beautiful and always try to add those precious southern touches

The Soul Killer

read this today in my Max Lucado devo book.
so good.

The Soul Killer

When people sin, they earn what sin pays--death
Romans 6:23

Sin does to a life what shears do to a flower.  A cut at the stem separates a flower from the source of life.  Initially the flower is attractive, still colorful and strong.  But watch that flower over a period of time, and the leaves will wilt and the petals will drop.  No matter what you do, the flower will never live again.  Surround it with water.  Stick the stem in soil.  Baptize it with fertilizer.  Glue the flower back on the stem.  Do what you wish.  The flower is dead......

A dead soul has no life.

Cut off from God, the soul withers and dies.  The consequence of sin is not a bad day or a bad mood but a dead soul.  The sign of a dead soul is clear:
poisoned lips and cursing mouths
feet that lead to violence
and eyes that don't see God....

The finished work of sin is to kill the soul.

all good southerners are razorback fans

today the razorbacks are playing LSU.

I'm a nervous wreck.

I don't think the Razorbacks have been #3 in the nation in my lifetime.
If we win today, it's gonna go down in history.

please God!!!

proud auntie

I am not even close to being ready to be a mommy, but I
LOVE
being an aunt.

2 days ago I became an aunt again.
this time my brother and sister-in-law had a boy.

Harper Allen John Henderson.

He is so sweet.
I'm so blessed.

Harper will have to be pretty sensational however to be as fun and amazing as my first "aunt child".
This was my very first neice.
Allie Rue

I know that if I can love a child the way I love her, I'll be a good mommy.
:-)

Hope everyone is doing well!!

looking for something?

I don't care who you are or where you are from or what your background is, I can guarantee that there has been a time in your life that you ask yourself:

"Is this it?"

"Is this all there is to life?"

  "What am I here for?"

  "What is my purpose?"

"Will life always be this hard?"

"What am I supposed to do with my life?"

"What is my purpose?"

"Why do I feel this way?"

"Will the pain I feel ever stop?"

More than likely, you are asking one of those questions even right now in your life.

So, what is the answer to these questions?
I obviously do not have all the answers, BUT I honestly do believe that the Word of God does.

You may now feel like, okay... so the Bible has all the answers to life, but it is so hard to read and understand it on my own.
So.... here is my gift to you.

Before I moved from Red Oak, I attended a church called The Oaks Fellowship.

I have known the pastor for over 10 years PERSONALLY.
He is human.
He is a good man.
He lives what he preaches in his home.
AND
he has an INCREDIBLE gift of explaining the concepts in the teachings of Christ.

If you would love a resource that you can go to every day, go check out their website.

http://www.theoaksonline.org/

You can go listen to sermons online.
I do all the time because I don't live there anymore.

Make sure to go listen to this Easter's message.
It was life changing for Wade and me.

Hope this helps your life!!!

everyone needs a mike and cindy

I moved to a brand new town when I got married.
I got married this past July, and moved to the "Cowboy Capital of the World" (I'm not kidding).
The reason Stephenville, TX is called the "Cowboy Capital of the World" is because, more rodeo champions come from Stephenville, TX than anywhere else in the world.

So, you may ask, "do you see cowboy hats daily?"
Yes.

"Do you see cowboy boots daily?"
Yes.

"Do you see spurs daily?"
No, but a lot.

The point of this blog is not really to talk about how "cowboy" my town is.
The point was to introduce you to a couple of people who have made my first year in Stephenville, TX feel more like home.

When I moved here, I only knew about 4 people.
The city I moved from, I had a HUGE group of friends... probably like a couple of HUNDRED friends.
So, you can only imagine how lonely I felt at first.

Then came Cindy and Mike.

(we were going on a walk here)

Cindy and Mike are 2 of the coolest people ever.
They are the same age as my parents.
They have taken me in as one of their own.

They have an amazing marriage... very similar to my parents... but funnier.  :)
They are very strong Christians, both are very hard working, and they both just love each other, their children, and they LOVE LIFE!!

Everyone needs a Mike and a Cindy.
They encourage me.
They show me (along with my parents) that people can stay happily married.
They have taught me how important it is to be a hard worker.
They have showed me how to cultivate a FUN, LOVING, and SELFLESS marriage.

I truly hope I can be like Cindy one day.
They came into my life at a very lonely time, and I'm so thankful for their friendship and example.

God really does know what you need in every season of your life.
In this season, I needed a Mike and a Cindy.
Just ask God to bring you what and who you need.

insanity

Today, my new good friend Carline and I started the Insanity workout!!!

I'm super excited!

I borrowed Insanity from a friend last year getting ready for my wedding and did it sporadically and loved it, but I bought it and I'm gonna do the actual program.
It's a 60 day program.
It is by far, one of the hardest workouts I've ever done.

I did P90X as well, and Insanity is just different.
P90X had weights and a pull-up bar and what not, but Insanity is more intense cardo interval training.  But there is still strength training in it too.... just no weights to clutter my living room.

If you wanna get in shape fast, you should try it too!

I'll keep you updated with my progress.  I'll maybe even put some before and after photos up.

I'm sorry I haven't blogged in a while.  So much has been going on!!  I guess I need to blog about it!

Have a great Monday!!

xoxo
